South-East England Landscape/night sky locations SE London/Kent

I'm quite jealous of all the guys with great locations on their doorsteps like the Lake District or the Peaks, sadly I need to get my fix of landscapes closer to London.
So has anyone got any suggestions for locations around SE London/Kent area for two purposes, 1) for landscapes (good hills/valleys/streams/etc) and 2) good places to shoot stars with less light pollution.

I'm looking for places that I can either go shoot while the kids are at school in the day (ie it can't be a 3 hr drive each way) or that wouldn't be too far from SE London for an evening shooting stars.

Why not Boxhill for the night shots, once your up there there is the viewpoint to setup on (10 metres from the road)
For the daytime there is also the Stepping stones also at Boxhill and the rivers around.
