The surface is actually a painted wall Peter. It surprised me how many "craters" are created, which are not visible under normal viewing.

Well I was sure the surface looked like kitchen paper when I first looked at your post this morning. But looking again there isn't the repeating patterns that paper would have.
That lens magnification is amazing, you certainly know how to get the best out of it. Well done Paul
