I'm not sure what you shoot and what lenses you have, as that will play a big part.

I bought 5ds (non r, but they are almost identical). I can tell you that it is insanely demanding on good glass and super steady technique. So much so that your average L zoom just won't resolve much more than mk IV... Sigma ART primes, Canon 70-200mm, 50mm STM and 400mm 5.6L are OK, The rest not entirely. If you can tick those boxes you will be rewarded with tack sharp 50MP image.

Noise is another one. I would say it maxes out at ISO 800 and that's pushing it. No fast fps either and huge file sizes. For general use the mk IV is probably better suited. But if you need the res you need the res.

I only shoot landscapes, my lens line up is the 24-105 f4 -70-200f4, 16-35 f4 and a sigma 24mm 1.4 art. I dont tend to go much above 400iso either.

So you have 16-20mm, 24mm and about 70-150... if you care about sharp corners; and you may end up focus stacking a lot of landscapes. Add 35mm and 50mm primes and it is looking better. When you go for 50mp you want to make sure you can take all of it

I have both and I would say keep the 5d4. Its the more versatile of the two. The 5dsr is really an ISO 100 only camera if you want maximum quality. In terms of print size I struggle to tell the difference even at A2 size.

Unless you want the megapixel bragging rights of course. (Which is worth nothing IMHO)

Regards...

I think I will keep my 5d4 after all. You're quite right mp bragging is of no use. Thanks for your input all.

You would only tell the difference at sizes LARGER than A1. There are people that want prints 2m long, even 6m long. It doesn't come often but it certainly happens and these can be expensive sales.
