A handful from yesterday and today, on the North Yorkshire Moors.

Went to Lealholm yesterday, for lunch. No pictures of that; I don't do "pictures of my dinner".

Took the road out towards Glaisdale, and on to Aislaby. Stopped en route to take this one:

The dogs were getting restless, so we headed to Sandsend to tire them out on the beach, and I took this:

Today, I went to Malton to the Specialist Cars Big Breakfast. On the way back, I passed Clay Bank and stopped to take this:

Hope you like them; constructive C&C always welcome.

like them all but especially the first one dramatic light :)

I like the second one best.

For me the first one looks like it might have had a bit too much selective dodging and burning - the light coming form the sun doesn't quite look natural... (although it may well just be very strange light of course)

Second one is very simple but really gives a sense of wide open space and has nice complimentary colours.

This one looks like the bottom is missing - the sky is really nice, I just get this 'chopped off' feeling when I look at it...

Thanks for taking the time to think about my pictures.

With regard to the first one, I haven't done any selective work on it at all; the strange, dramatic light through the clouds was what prompted me to stop the car in the first place. I did draw out some of the sky (and foreground) detail in Color Efex Pro, but that's about it. I used a 0.6 ND hard grad filter to control the sky, but the sun still ended up dominating.

I have another version of the second one, with much more foreground; I'll post it up if you're interested.

Good point on the final image; it is indeed a crop, and I may revisit it to introduce a little more foreground. I cropped it out because I thought it was a bit dull, and didn't add any useful interest.
