All images from past days I've had another crack at since the weathers been so wet and windy.

These two are from this time two years ago, just as I was about to head to France 2years ago. History repeats itself as I am off to France Monday AM :D

I wasn't thrilled with the lack of sunlight and rushed the processing thinking I'd get something better - well two years later I haven't. I tend to shoot at Glencoe far more and two years worth of felling has taken it's toll on the landscape.

I gave this a bit more work and I've got it to where I want it to be. Some sunlight would have really made it for me though but going back now you'd really see the effects of the logging on the mountain.

This shot of Tigh mor I planned to do in the Autumn - and I have but I've never had a reflection quite as glassy as this. I had hoped to get this sort of reflection with Autumn colours but two years on and I am not quite there with that. The summer greens have grown on me as I've come to appreciate summer more and more with each year - summer and autumn really are my favourite times of year. I actually posted this on here two years back and was told the original rendition was a little flat, and it was but I was keen to keep the etheral feel of the morning. With this one I've just increased the black point and contrast more, it's not quite got the soft gentle mood of the 1st but for me it does pop more and still rests easy on the eye. Given how unlikely with the felling in the area and general crap weather I felt it wise to really process it again and so more with it.

This shot of the boat house I've showcased before but still had another run at it. It's a cliche but it's a really gorgeous spot.

The other shot I took this day was a telephoto one. I decided to crop it 4x5 and take off some of the bottom. It feels less tall and narrow cropped like this and for now am happy with it. Ideally it would be mill pond still but there's been times it's been flat but the mist has been too heavy to get the distant view in ok. I feel with mist that a little is best, I don't want too much of it in the image.

A bit like this shot of Tigh mor. Lovely bands of wispy mist and not a pea soup like the times I went the year after but sadly it hasn't got the mirror like reflection of one, which is what I really want. I gave it another run, just because I was bored.

Just too finish off, Ben A'An. I entered it to LPOTY. It didn't get anywhere but the more I view it, the more I appreciate this morning.

Last thread from me for three weeks.

Nice way to sign off for a bit of time Steve, love the first two. Enjoy France!

Thanks - I am like a 6yr old at Christmas, actually more so. Christmas means winter and I don't like the cold and I didn't like it then. Going through lists of locations I've compilled and charting wind speeds to ensure I get reflections where I go. Reflections are for me the ultimate type of scene. It's looking mid 20's in Northern France which is just about perfect.

Well that's different! Quite a muted set there by your standard Steve, very nice none the less.
I really like No 2 I think that's my pick of the set nice clarity with a touch of mist, very nice, and the processing suits it.
No 3 I like the slight diagonal that runs off to a vanishing point on the horizon it seems to balance well against the strong lines of the pier. I guess the Icing on the cake for me would have been stronger light brushing over the tree tops above the boat house(looks like the light is just starting to come through here as in No 4 the golden light hits the trees).
No 4 is cracking I really love that one. Mist, Old Building, Light and Reflection whats not to love!!

I also love Christmas, but we are Polar opposites otherwise, love the cold and the Snow more the merrier.
Enjoy France Mate

Nice atmospheric shots, the mist works really well. I do enjoy your reflections. Hope you are successful in France!

Thanks. I've made it down to Cluses which is just north of Chamonix. I had planned to take the Flegere cable car then walk to Lac Blanc and a few others but have changed my mind.

I picked Cluses as it was cheap to stay in and as I drove down from Scotland Sunday PM and got here Monday evening I just wanted something close to the hotel. Meet Lac de Vallon.

This is more me than Chamonix itself which will be too busy and the lakes up high require a fair bit of Hill walking which I'd rather not do as I don't enjoy it particularly. Here bar one other person with a bloody dog was quiet as were the roads in and out

I loved it so much I'm going tonight again. The very best light came just as someone with aforementioned dog let it off the leash and it jumped into the lake. I absolutely hate dogs and started to pack up as it came towards me to get away.IMG_1983.JPGIMG_1982.JPGIMG_1981.JPG
