Here in West Central Scotland Amazon deliveries have long been to an excellent standard. That is no longer the case.
The grey "Amazon Prime" vans have disappeared. All sorts of private vehicles are now in use. Never see the same driver twice. Around 90% of drivers never speak, but just handover the parcel then vamoose without uttering a word. (I suspect they cannot speak a word of English).
I have a large plastic box (appropriately labelled) in my drive and it is registered with all the carriers as the place to leave deliveries if I am not at home. Amazon box) is the only carrier that no longer uses that box. Parcels get dumped on the doorstep. Amazon does that at all doors now, even if the rain is p***ing down (it usually is here).

Has such a rubbish service become the countrywide norm for Amazon ?

Not in south Devon, so far. They even seem to have stopped parking on our skinny pavements, the way they used to...

It’s fine around here (Kent). We still get Prime vans every time unless it’s a same day delivery, in which case it’s a private car. We rarely get the same driver every time but they’re usually very polite and friendly. Sometimes they’ll dump the box and run but the last few drivers have rung the doorbell and waited.

Round me in Fife I’ve seen the driver go to the neighbours on either side with my parcel first, despite having a large(12”) door number clearly visible and a car on the drive, one was huffed because the neighbour wouldn’t take the parcel in! Amazon now for stuff I can’t get elsewhere at a similar price.

As soon as the opportunity arises I will ask other carrier drivers what is going on. They usually know about each other's "habits".

The grey vans appeared up here long after other places and we still have them, but like you we rarely see the same driver twice and those are almost exclusively Europeans. Amazon drivers find it very hard to make a living and fewer people are willing to work for them which leads to delays. The service here has worsened a lot in the last few months with late parcels being very common.

I’m in south west wales and have found exactly the same. Grey vans are gone and deliveries are often delayed.

I think it’s time to cancel prime.

"I think it’s time to cancel prime." .................... Yes !

No issues for us on the West Yorkshire/North Yorkshire border. Although our packages now come from Preston and not Leeds depots. Have rarely had deliveries from an Amazon van.

No problems here.

I am in Northern Ireland and have had this a few times recently as well.

Seeing it here in Rossendale, Lancs. Leaving parcels on the doorstep when we are on right on the pavement. Stuck a label on the item box and left it on the doorstep to get wet. At leastt put the damn thing in another box so the item can be gifted without an Amazon label attached.

Used to be a very good service but the last 6-12 months has declined.

I am maybe 2 miles (as crow flies) from local Amazon warehouse, never used Prime as stuff was usually next day if in stock, now it takes much longer even RM are quicker.

Can't absolutely swear to it, but on some amazon deliveries it sounds like they're trying the front door handle before ringing the bell.
Anyone else noticed or suspected this?

Haven't seen the vans here in a while, now I think about it, used to see them all the time.
Here they dont seem to bother knocking, they just leave the parcel on the doorstep and do a runner.
A couple of weeks back, I got my recycling bins from the front to go around the back (they'd been left out front as I had builders around the back) and I found three parcels for my neighbour a few doors away, they were soaked through, must have been there for days.
Both houses clearly numbered. My neighbough was baffled.

Not sure they ever used Amazon vans in my area. We usually have the same delivery driver and he leaves most parcels on the doorstep and often rings the bell, but not always. Some deliveries require a photo so we need to open the door. Works for us as we are usually in but we have had parcels left on the doorstep when we have been out and sometimes they were wet.

There are delivery options which in theory can stop doorstep deliveries. No idea if they work.

We had a delivery today, plain white van, I actually mentioned this to him, this is what I was told, the grey Amazon vans are driven by workers that are on Paye, the plain vans are driven by self employed drivers, Amazon have cut down on there own drivers, and now just use them for city centre and close to cities deliveries.

Compared to other places, Amazon is still by far the fastest and more reliable delivery service for me, whether it's in their own vans or not. I can imagine it being hard work for perhaps not the best pay after deductions, but don't know for sure.
