Guys & girls.

I've just imported a few shots into LR & I have lost all of my catalogue folders on the left side. Was working fine yesterday.

Elements F is my external harddrive where everything was listed in all it's separate folders etc As you can see, I've now only got todays 9 images in there.

What do I do? I think I can find the catalogue back up thing but I wanted to check incase I made things worse........?

Thanks!

I had a weird occurrence a couple of days ago which may be connected, where I wanted to move imaged from one internal drive to another, but LRc would oly recognise the folder structure of the drive in use, not the one I wanted to move the images to. I wonder if the failure to see your other images in from a simlar cause?

Okay, so I go to catalogue location through LR it opens into either

Lightroom CatalogLee folder

And a Lightroom Catalog.lrcat

Well, I can see the other images but they are saying 'file could not be found'. But everything is just listed in the 'catalogue' as ALL PHOTOGRAPHS

Okay. So I've got all my listed folder structure back, but they are all ? instead of showing.

But the confusing thing is, they are listed on a 'D' drive - Yet my external harddrive has always been & still is an 'F' drive.....

Have you unplugged any other drives? Often, unless you've permanently assigned a drive letter, they are listed in order of insertion. It *looks* like you've teken out 2 drives.

Well, the D drive is the disc drive. I only have one drive external plugged in & that's the F Elements with my photography on.

Which is why I don't get it......

Then a question might be, why was it F previously?

Interestingly, if I click the old 'my computer' then the 'D' CD disc drive isn't showing up......

I wonder if somehow LR has somehow picked up on that & dropped my external drive from F to D?

I can't recall the las time I use the CD drive. Years ago......

But the Photography External drive has always been F & still is F because I have a desktop shortcut to it which has still been working (even with this LR issue)

Obvious question - when was the last restart
?

I had a recent incident which changed the Drive Letter of an internal drive from F to I !!! After an initial panic, I managed to remap Lightroom to the new drive letter and my catalog picked it all up - so all good.

I don't know if it was related to a Windows Update.

I just had to manually re-link everything in the end.

Still strange though.
