I had a few days in The Peaks towards the end of last year and, as I'd just installed Filmborn on my phone, I decided to do some a side-by-side testing with some actual film, in my Brownie.
So, here is a Ladybower shot from the Brownie loaded with Ilford Pan F:
(*Processed in Tetenal Paranol S, scanned on a V700)
This is a phone shot from the same spot, taken with Filmborn, set to emulate Ilford Pan F:
And here's my final film edit: Cropped, dodged, burned and contrast tweaked (In LR) as I would've tried to print it back in the day):
My verdict: Shooting film for a digital darkroom is definitely the "best-of-both" scenario. The iphone lens might be a wee bit sharper than an 80 year Brownie(!), and Filmborn is a slick app.
But it's not as nice film
