Battery recommendation for Canon 7D Mark ii

Hi,

I would be grateful for some advice please: I have a Canon 7D Mark ii and need to get some replacement batteries. I bought two Duracell ones that both went faulty within two weeks and are being sent back today. I am looking for recommendations for batteries available in the UK. I appreciate it might be better to get Canon's own brand (my own Canon own brand battery didn't last any longer than the third party ones I got when I first bought the camera some years ago), but they are beyond my price range. Can anyone recommend any third party batteries that they have tried recently that were reliable?

Many thanks for your help.

I have never been disappointed with Canon's own batteries - pricey yes, but last for a long time if looked after.

Some of the aftermarket batteries need specific chargers to work properly or to be charged to their maximum.

get used real ones.

none of the copies are as good and you get what you pay for

that is my take on it anyway

and the really cheap ones could possibly be a fire hazard, so beware. A good brand such as Duracell or Hahnel should be OK, but there may well be people selling branded fakes, so buy from a trusted retailer, not Ebay or Amazon marketplace which is a bit like the wild west.

Fortunately the LP-E6N battery used in the 7D2 is common amongst other Canon's so getting originals which still show 3 bars when connected to the camera shouldn't be too difficult.
There is a newer version, the LP-E6NH which offers 20% more battery capacity, and the documentation suggests the standard LC-E6 charger will charge it.

get genuine canon batteries if you can as they last longer and hold their charge.
I have apx 5 batteries I use in my 7Dii and I only have 2 that are non canon

try the for sale section on this forum

I use Duracell ones and have done so for the last 5 years or more . Im using them professionally and they get emptied and charged at least 3 times a week . None have ever faulted and last as long if not longer than my canons . You were maybe just unlucky with your ones .

Thanks everyone for your responses. I had bought the Duracell ones direct from Duracell so I know they were genuine ones. They had a sale on and I wonder if they were selling off old stock and that was the problem - just had a quick look on Amazon at reviews for these batteries and they are getting loads of bad reviews so perhaps quality standards have gone down. I shall take a look at the video.
