Recently bought a nikon d750. Most attractive 150-600 seem to be the tamron g2 version purely because it is more recent and look better imo.
Are all the 150-600 as good as each other sigma 150-600, old tamron 150-600.
Price is important as budget is limited, does the g2 justify the slightly more expensive price?
Any thought welcome.
Thank you

Hi Thomas,
I suggest actually going to a store and actually spend time handling both lenses on your D750, I mean spend time getting the feel of both lenses and try in light and dim conditions...People will have their preferences and between my and my other half we've gone through: Sigma C150-600 (EF mount), Sigma EX 150-500 (PK mount), Canon EF 100-400 Mk2, Nikon 80-400G, Canon RF100-500 and Nikon 200-500/5.6. Only one left is the Nikon 80-400. We bought the Sigma 150-600 in the shop and we really liked it, but once we really got to use it in 'anger' my OH couldn't get on with it and it was sold as soon as we returned from our photographic holiday.
The point I am making is that even though one lens is more recent and looks better doesn't translate into better usability - over time the 'older' lens might handle better in your hands.

Nikon 200-500 would be (was) my choice when I did wildlife. :)

Why not rent the lens. Take some pictures. Save in a folder named after lens and rent another lens and compare the same sort of stuff.

Yes that is exactly my though. I use to have the sigma contemporay and it was a very good lens, did all I wanted it to do. Just wondered if anyone had feedback on the more recent tamron lens.

I cannot really go in a shop as there is nothing remotely close to me.
I could rent indeed but to renting a couple lens would likely be a fair bit of money and would eat my small budget.

I know the 200-500 is highly praised but I think it is a bit less value for money and less reach. Most my shot with the contemporary would be at the 600mm end.
I beleive all the 150-600 are likely good enough for a hobbist with small budget like me.

I just did a bit of Googling and it seems that the review sites have missed this obvious comparison out for some reason.

However, from half an hours research it appears that the Tamron G2 has slightly better IQ and weather sealing, making it closer in spec to the more expensive and heavier Sigma Sport, which is still slightly the best of the bunch.
