My usual go to genre is landscapes. But I’ve recently upgraded my gear to a Canon R6ii and Sigma 150-600mm, and have started taking bird / wildlife pics. I know from taking landscapes you turn IS off when using a tripod. But what do you do if using a bean bag in a hide?

Any thoughts welcome. :)

The suggestion to turn image stabilization off is rather old now... especially with IBIS and tripod mode stabilization (often auto recognized/switched).

However, there is the occasional exception where stabilization adversely affects IQ. And certain combinations that may more consistently generate reduced IQ. Obviously, the more stable the camera/lens, the less you benefit from IS/IBIS; so why risk it? And there is no (common) support more stable than a beanbag...

Another point is that the lens and camera both have stabilisation but do they work together and if you have switch one off which one do you switch off?
