Yes
I have a quantity of photographs which I need to convert from TIF to JPG. Can anybody recommend a, preferably free, tool to do that. I need to convert because the fairly ancient but still working viewer I have will only work with JPG images.
Thanks in advance.

Faststone Viewer (free) will batch convert the file format. Are the tiffs srgb?

XnConvert would do this, free. I used it once to convert thousands of greyscale images to RGB, did it very nicely! (Aperture was happy with grayscale images, but Capture One Pro requires everything in RGB...)

Another for Irfanview. It is excellent and extremely fast. And free.
I use it as my standard viewer.
And have done so for many years.

No I can't see it anywhere. Bit of a lack. Doesn't look as if it can do colour conversions either - eg from Adobe RGB to sRGB, if that was necessary. Oh well ...

Try Irfan out, like others have said. It won't cost anything.

You can convert a batch of TIF files to JPG for free using a Python script with the Pillow library—it's very few lines of code, but you need to be set up with Python to do that.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've just tried Irfan on one folder and it seems to work great. No obvious problems.
