Hi folks, I'm a newbie on here and learning loads already. I've always enjoyed taking photos but never really understood the technology and the techniques to get the most out of it as a hobby.

Recently got a Sony A7Rii and a few lenses to get me going, I'm having great fun learning the camera and eager for feedback on my pictures.

So thought I'd self-indulgently set up a thread to post a few things and hope people are willing to share their opinion and expertise. No offence will be taken!

Anyway, ramble over (sorry!), first offering is our dog Ziggy. I was in the middle of learning the Sony's focus modes and thought the light was good. Wanted face and front paw in focus but not lose to much of the background. 35mm lens probably not ideal for this, but thinking I could have used a higher aperture to keep the rest of him, and the chair in focus?
Any views on this or anything else appreciated.
Thanks
Ross

The horse needs to be on the left, so that you can see the space it is moving towards.
