Hi,

I have a Voigtlander 35mm f2.5 color skopar and I'm trying to find an end cap for it. I ordered one from ebay and it's marked 39x1 but as the lens rear assembly sticks out quite a bit it's too shallow and only fits the lens when the lens is wound fully forward so I'm looking for a deeper one but it's hard to tell from the pictures on ebay as most look just like the too shallow one I bought.

Does anyone know where I can find a slightly deeper l39 end cap or maybe a part number I can look for on line?

Thanks if anyone can help.

Does it need to be aesthetically beautiful or just something that does the job properly? If the latter, maybe a cut-and-shut using what you have and some Worbla (a thermoplastic material) or similar would work.

If I can't find one I have two options... Leave the adapter on or use the cap I've just bought and remember to wind the lens out before fitting it.

I know it's a long shot but I just wondered if anyone knew where I could get a slightly deeper end cap. There are a coupe on ebay which look really deep at twenty odd quid a piece from the USA but they look ridiculously long.

If no one can point me in the direction of anything I'll just leave it as is and maybe keep looking on ebay as and when I remember to.

I have a friend who 3D prints lens caps - I suspect he may have what you are looking for.

I can't see one listed. If he could do one I'd have one at those very reasonable prices.

That lens does have a rear element that sticks out from the mount a long way and does need a deeper rear lens cap as you have found, good luck in finding a deeper one or having a custom one printed.
I have one of those lenses and find it works well on film cameras but less well on my Leica M240, suffering from quite a bit of fall off at the edges. I have no proof but in my head it is the extended rear element that I hold responsible for the below par performance on the M240.

I have just looked on Thingiverse, and there is a listing for a L39 rear lens cap but it is not dimensioned, if you want I can download the STL and measure it.

I had one of these on my Bessa and sold it with the Bessa. There seem to be several versions of this lens, mine was one with a conventional and short throw focus ring with no tab. I always regretted selling it so bought one to use on my Sony A7. Yes, it isn't great on my A7 but for whole picture viewing it is ok for me and I have the joy of using this lovely lens again.
