Canon 6D prices

I'm planning to upgrade to a Canon 6D at some point. One possibility is to ask family for contributions towards it as my birthday and Christmas presents. (My birthday is in December.)

BUT...

I've found a site selling new 6D's for £656 inc VAT and postage. That's about half what some sellers charge, and less than you pay for a lot of second-hand ones! I'm not allowed to post a direct link because I'm new to this forum, but the company is called Levaretech. (I promise I'm not connected with them - this isn't some sneaky way of advertising. I found them by Googling 'best price Canon 6D UK'.) My question is this, and I realize that nobody can know the answer for certain... Am I likely to be able to get such a good price in the run-up to Christmas, or is this a weird seasonal aberration and I'll be paying £850+ in December? I really don't think I can justify spending a big chunk of money at the moment.

Got there just before me, Paul:)

If you want a 6D and are happy with a grey import, I can recommend HDEW. Their imports do have all the VAT paid properly and come with a 3yr guarantee, but the prices are going up a) because of demand it seems and b) because of the fall in the value of the British Pound.
I've spent the last few weeks looking for a 6D myself and couldn't stretch to a new one (UK or imported) so I was looking at second hand. MPB tends to price them between £850 and 900. But CEX (Computer Exchange) has a set price of £760 for an "A Grade" camera body. This is pretty much the best I found, until I went into Calumet and picked up one for £700 without box or charger, but with only 10,000 on the shutter count and a 12month guarantee.
If you're ok with s/h, then call round some of the shops (particularly Calumet and LCE) because not all of their stock gets put online.

Good luck with the search.

Also interested in a 6d as a spare body before a trip at the beginning of October. I noticed this week that Panamoz price has jumped up by about 10%. HDEW seems the best price for new at the moment.

Its always worth asking your local dealer whats the best deal they can offer you. I picked up a brand new 6D and grip for £1000 3 months ago. If you don't ask you don't get.
