Yes
I'm hoping to do a lot of printing on my Epson 1290s printer, which has been stored for a year or so.

Given the price of Epson inks am very tempted to use a CIS system.

Just wondered what users thought of CIS systems in general - any thoughts or experience with 1290 CIS systems would be appreciated. I love the blacks I get with Epson inks on Matte paper, why I've hung on to this printer - would the CIS blacks be as good?

Thanks POAH - do you use a Fotospeed CIS yourself, if so what do you think of it?

I see Fotospeed do one for the 1290S for £80 with Crystal dye ink - seems very good value.

I have the InkRepublic(usa) system for my 1290s and the quality is excellent. I had a lot of clogging on the magenta nozel. I don't think there is anything wrong with the system or ink, the problem is I don't use it enough. As far as I know if it was running regular every day it would be ok.
It might be worth considering how much printing you do. I now use a 3800 pro with original ink and in 2 years have never had to do a head clean.
