The second one looks nicely sharp with good clarity. And it looks like it has a passenger, a mite or some such I suppose (I'm very bad at identifying things).
I think the first one is a dung fly, one of my favourites. It doesn't seem to have the clarity of the second image for some reason.

Well spotted Nick i thought the red was just a part of its colouring but now you point it out it does look like a mite or something
