Hi,

I took a trip out to a local waterfall that i haven't photographed before, I knew about these falls but last time i checked them out the route down to them was very steep and slippery but today i found that there are some new steps that lead down to them.

There was still some ice on the ground and a lot of water, so next time i will take my wellies with me so i can shoot it from different places.

anyway, C+C always welcomed.

Two very nice shots. I'm a sucker for these types of photos.

Really like number 1, the composition works a bit better than 2 for me.

The only thing I would do was get wet and remove that stick/branch from the falls, but i'm just being picky now.

Very nice shots indeed.

i really like number 1

could do with a bit more sun light on the rocks and falls, with the foreground in the shade and background lit up its kind of distracting and takes you away from the image.
from your second image it looks like you just missed the sun or did not wait long enougth as there are glimses on the rocks to the side.

great pics and location, may benifit to remove that stick in the falls next time (y)

top work...look forward to seeing more

Where are these falls Chris?

I've driven through Dess countless times, but can't recall ever seeing or hearing about waterfalls nearby. Is the access to them suitable for smaller children to walk to?

#1 is very strong and full on. A really good shot with good movement and perspective.

I agree with the above comments, #1 is the strongest shot. Beautiful! :)

Thanks for the comments everyone, i will definitely be visiting these falls again many times, and may even get my feet wet removing the branch next time.

Thanks. (y)

Hi John,

If you are driving along the north deeside road towards Aboyne take a right and head toward the activity park and the falls are on your right hand side about 1 mile along, there is a lay by on the right hand side just on a corner and from there you will see the falls below you and the steps are just a few steps into the trees. I dont think the steps are that suitable for small kids (depending how small they are), the steps are quite big and at the moment the bottom ones are quite slippy.

Cheers.

Thanks Chris, might leave a trip there til the warmer and drier days if I've got the family with me :)

Two very nice photos, No1 for me just looks better.

I love #1

The light at the top adds to the magic of it.

2 very nice shots chris (y)

personally,i think number 1 would benefit from the sky being cropped out,but thats just personal choice, and does not detract from what is a very nice image :)

Thanks for the comments, i will be heading back many times so will take many more different shots and see what i can get to work best. (y)
