Diffusers and or reflectors with sunlight

I have read about people using these for macro photography (things like Lichens and plants mainly).
Does any one do so or tried and thought that it was a waste of time? Any thoughts?

Not tried myself, but reflectors are a simple way to bounce light back into the shadows of a plant etc.. you could try a sheet of paper or Aluminium foil before buying anything.

Diffusing the sunlight could slow your shutter speed too much for plant movement in the wind.?

I've not bothered purely as I tend to have a flash stuck on the lens.

I find a ring flash far less of a faff TBH, and you don't have to spend a fortune on these either.
When my dedicated Canon one gave up the ghost, I couldn't justify the replacement cost.
So I went looking for alternatives.
I got one like this, and even cheaper. ( works on most makes too) and works well for me at least.

I used to use crumpled foil smoothed out a bit and stuck onto one side of pieces of styrofoam, that gave me a choice of the foil or foam.
Haven't used it for many years as nowhere to keep it and not much sun
