One thing that I noticed about Colombia compared to the Uk was fewer solitary bees, very few hoverflies and no bumblebees (I believe that in the tropic bumblebees only live in very cold environments and semi arid environments are good for solitary bees neither of which I visited partly because of logistics and also because they are pretty unpleasant places masses amounts of rain or extreme heat). When I next visit I will take actual counts compared to the UK.
