weekly firewireguy 52 / 2024 Week 52 - Transport

Nowt in there for sure! Nice take on the theme :)

Nothing better then an empty washing machine! The ironing then becomes a problem. :$

Snappers choice fits the vibrant theme, goes off to rest eyes :)
Empty works and no reflections (y) or have you cropped them out

It's the drying space we really struggle with. I don't know how other people manage. We have 4 airers and also tumble a lot. Means there's no room to breath in the house.

This was just a 50mm lens with the flashgun on the camera pointing straight forward. A small crop to make it more central, but no bad reflections. Had to play with the aperture to get tje brightness under control.

We use a dehumidifier if we use an airer, pretty sure they are much cheaper to run than the tumble drier as well

I have been looking at one of them, but then I needed 2 new tyres. Certainly by the end of the summer I plan on getting one.

The guitar shots are great and perfect for vivid.
Empty is spot on too and something I had also considered if our was ever empty for more than a couple mins...

Week 17 - Structure

I don't know what these are called, but I call them tree caterpillars and our garden is covered in them.

Ooh, like that! Nice lighting, sensitive treatment.
Thanks. It's amazing what some black paper and some ceiling bounce flash can do.

I took some more that were a bit brighter and had the whites all the way to the right, as it were, but I preferred this muted version.

Ooh that's a bit good that is :)

A different take on the theme. Love the softness your lighting portrays.

Nice take on the theme.
Thank you!

Nicely set up. And certainly fits the theme for the type of structure which nature provides.
Nature makes things more intricate than anything man made

Thank you!!

Thanks. Had to avoid harsh lighting as I didn't think that'd work at all.

Nice set up, no idea what they are called either.
Thank you. Caterpillar droppings? Nobody knows.

Week 18 - Straight

I had a couple of contenders for this week, but I've gone for the photo with the most geometric straight lines in it (and dinosaurs)

Some nice straights there :)

I like your chosen image. The V shape seems to emphasise the straightness of the beam.

All good contenders... I like the dinosaur who looks like he's about to amble into the centre of the shot!

Thanks. Strangely the beam was quite bent, but in an up / down wave shape, so from this angle looks straight.

Nice and straight, got some interesting stuff in the back ground

It's at Fonmon Castle where there is a dinosaur trail, which is fun.

He's a lot bigger when you get close!

Ticks the box :)

Structure - I love the lighting as others mentioned
Straight - you had a lot of good options! I quite like the arrow, although the dinosaurs are a great addition to any pic
Bent - the colours really pop & I bet you don't many cable managements complaints

Week 20 - Arches

Got a few on the walk today. Top one is the one I chose

Could have probably bashed the "minimalism" technique on the head if I'd gone with this one

I think you chose the correct one.

I love the decay in it.

I'd also (on first glance and without googling the definition of arch) say that the bench and the bike racks aren't 'arched'.
Thanks. I was clutching at straws for sure. Not the biggest shoehorn I've seen recently though!

Agree with Kell on your choice, great colours
I've been toying with the LUTs in Photolab and enjoying the results.

That's a very hidden arch well spotted. Works well for the theme

This probably the most incredible photo I've ever taken considering it was taken in Wales. A once in a lifetime oportunity.
