Critique First attempt at a high key shot in nature

First attempt in creating a low key effect a nature subject.
I liked the curves of the Swan's neck and had very bright water behind it Swan was on the Lake Bank.

Not sure about the bottom not a lot of detail, but quite like the fact detail increases as you get in to the picture.

Would be interested re feedback for improvements either at point of capture or post processing.

My first thought is the placement, the head and beak need to be more to the centre with the curve of the neck to the right of the image, leaving a little negative space on the left imho. For me the fact that the detail increases away from the body is good.

Arvorphoto, thanks for your feedback I can see what you mean by negative space on the left, so will look to make a new version with photoshop to extend the canvas this week, but i take a bit of time as I am no expert in photoshop. Original image has less bright water and vegetation to the left.

You never stop learning with Photoshop, Richard.
It is also something to bear in mind when taking a future image
