Hi, I'm new to this forum and I'm seeking some advice or recommendations from more experienced photographers than myself.

I'm an estate agent and do my own photos (currently using a Nikon D850 with a AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm lens) and the camera is working great apart from in particularly dark rooms/properties. I'm looking into the option of getting a flash for the camera and basically seeking any recommendations as for what the best one would be. It would be interesting to know what the best ones are regardless of budget and then potentially a cheaper, not quite as good but still do the job option too.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm a novice when it comes to this side of things.

Cheers

An alternative to flash would be to use a tripod - set the camera up, and let the shutter speed be as slow as needed - nothing should be moving in the shot, so you can have a 20s exposure if you want.

tripod is not an alternative; it is an absolute must, but what do I know - I am only doing this for 10 years.

If you don't want to waste time and money your realistic minimum is Godox AD200 (pro or non pro doesn't matter) and ideally higher. You will need to know what to do with it, the right modifiers to use, and no straight bounce flash is not the best way by far.

This is not portrait work with flash. It is a whole different work with very specific workflow and editing.

Be kind to Alex! He may be an estate agent but somebody needs to do the job! (Sorry Alex).
I agree with the above that a tri[pod is essential for the scenarios you highlighted, and indeed will give you the freedom to set the most advantageous exposures on the camera (high aperture number slow shutter speed) for greatest depth of field (keeping things in focus). You may then find that lighting is much less of an issue, but if it is, then in truth for the best presentation to clients, paying good attention to how to light the subject is really important. It's a big subject to learn, but the investment will pay off.

You will need a tripod and off camera flash and flash stand and look at somebody like Nathan Cool on YouTube
