Hi Peter i think its down to the editing ive just started using Lightroom cant believe how much it improves the images

I’m no expert but my thinking is, he didn't get in close, just did a heavy crop. Unless they were stacked, I’m not sure you cam increase depth of field in Lightroom.

Nice pictures although it looks like noise reduction has covered any fine detail in the first one.
