We finally managed to get to visit Formby yesterday, it lashed it down most of the time we were driving there.... but when we arrived the sun was out. I managed to get a few shots of the red squirrels there......

No#3 Is so cute , I just want to pick up & cuddle it.

In a very manly way of course :bat:

One thing I found out is that red squirrels don't sit still for long.... just as I locked focus the little b***ers would dart off.....

very nice Mike, Matt is the squirrel king, when hes finished tarting about in his kitchen im sure he would pass comment.

Lucky to see Reds, just the grey treerat in these parts too

Aye Formby is renowned for its Red Squirrels. I've been there myself a couple of times.

And yes Mike they're really fast little buggers aren't they?

Did you take some nuts along to entice them to sit still?

Formby is National Trust reserve Matty, CLICKY

Membership to the National Trust is a real 'must' in my opinion, all these fantastic places to visit :)

Definitely take some nuts next time Marcel :)

Yep, nuts are a must. Apprently in the shell hazels are their preferred dish of choice, but good old monkeys work a treat too.

I take a bagful, and keep both my side pockets full of them for easy access....Works a treat :D

I bought my mother and sister National trust membership for this year, i hope they use it!

I've been tempted to buy a National Trust membership for a while, but with me not liking long distance driving, I'm not sure I'd make the most of it (save for the free parking at Formby...lol)

I've asked my wife for it for christmas though (y)

3rd's the winner for me as well. I'm gonna have to go there too, I have vague memories of seeing red squirrels when I was a kid and I'd love to see them again.

Beautiful shots, Mike. Well done. Arenet they gorgeous....much nicer looking than the greys.

PS... never go anywhere without your bag of nuts!! ;)

Nice shots. The only thing I'd have have done differently would be to lie flat out for a lower viewpoint ... sod the washing... with the camera on a tripod perhaps, adjusted right down to near ground level.
