Gatesgarthdale beck

I like the pool in the foreground and it is a good capture of a typical Lake District day. It's perhaps a bit of a shame that the location doesn't look like it would allow for the stream to be seen stretching off into the distance.

This point does not really offer views further upstream

Very nice capture
I'm off there in May I can't wait.
Thank you for sharing your work ! (y)

Wish I had a £1 for each location I visited which looked promising on a map, only to disappoint (by weather, features, or just my poor map reading skills).
But you've come away with a good image without over-emphasising the sky.
I like the clarity in the water pool and the shutter speed used.
Was there an opportunity to safely get nearer to either of the mini falls shown - maybe to get a detailed closer image?

Its a nice place to go I find especially on quiet days.

I know the area well and have been many times I was just looking for something I thought I had missed.
The water in front of the falls is deep and I was high up on a roock for this

That's clever Alf intentional or not, use the foreground interest to take the attention off the overcast sky(y)
In this country we have to deal with overcast a lot! And you have done a fine job here. I love those aquamarine colours you get in that lovely cold clear mountain water. The great bronze and greens with the pin sharp rocks all hold my attention well shot Alf(y)

The greens in the water are from the Buttermere slate which adds to the green.

To my eye, the charm and main interest of the scene is in the foreground and near mid-ground, so I'd be inclined to crop off the poorly lit and relatively uninteresting top portion, ie down to about the top of the outcrop in the right foreground. The remaining part of the scene is relatively well lit, and aesthetically attractive (to my taste at least). It is a lovely piece of countryside.

I like the image as it is.

I like the area and on a good day I think that it is a great area to have a wander around.

It's a nice spot Alf, although harder than you'd think to get a good shot from that area - I like this though as I think i've shot from roughly the same spot but shot much closer to the water, maybe work well with a good sunrise in that direction?

Interesting point on the crop.

This was a precarious position to get lower on but the section below I was much closer to the water. I want to go back when there is muc more water and the rocks are wet I think maybe with a break in heavy clouds.

Sometimes when there is too much water you lose the sense of the flow and it just becomes a jumble of water. Its a nice wee bit this - stopped here a few times and as you say it can be quite awkward to get the view you want.
