Got a bag of stuff from my Dad...

My dad gave me a bag of his old film cameras he had tucked away today. Nothing earth-shattering, camera wise, but I'm looking forward to seeing how all the expired film holds up. There's also a half used roll still in the Canon, so I've ordered a fresh set of batteries in order to finish it off and see what (if anything) is on there. There may be some pics of my mum on there, which would be nice to see as she died 13 years ago.

The Kodak Ultra 400 (5 rolls) is dated 03/2006, the Klick 200 is dated 03/2001, and the Dixons 200 is dated 06/2004. Oh, and a Kodak Ultra disposable with 39(!) shots dated 04/2002.

The cameras are:

Canon Sure Shot Z135
Olympus Newpic AF 200
Halina Vision XMS
Vivitar Series 1 370 Z

I'll definitely use the Canon to finish off the roll it contains, and I'll give the disposable a go too. There's also a single roll of Kodak Advantix, but I don't know if it's been used or not (is there a way to tell?), which I believe will fit the Olympus.

That film is practically new! I would happily uyse all if it. The worst that will happen is a colour cast which you can correct in Photoshop.

If you can find an Asda super store near you that still does film, then you can get it developed and scanned to CD (no prints) for £3-£4 (y)

Sadly, the last time I went to the local Asda that still does film prints, the machine was broken and they didn't know if it would be replaced. The local Max Spielmann still does film processing though, and Peak Imaging is within walking distance of where I live, so I shouldn't have any problems getting them processed.

fingers crossed for you there are some nice photos of your mum on that roll :)

Hopefully the Oly takes fairly standard batteries - APS film is hard to get hold of these days so the batteries will probably long outlast the film supplies!

Oh well, the disposable was a washout. Took it on holiday with me and got a call from Max Spielmann the other day telling me the negs are all blank.:(

Good job I took another camera with me, eh?

I'm hoping that the other old film is ok and it's not because it's been stored next to a heat source or something. I've got a few shots left on one of the rolls of APS, so will take that for processing next. Fingers crossed!
