I am not sure about others but I have only ever spotted a GCG twice in flight and on both occassions it was up quite high, therefore this is nothing more than a record shot. It would be nice to catch one lower down in good light showing some detail on top the wings but that`s for another day. I did read somehwere that Grebes tend to travel at night more than anything but it never mentioned if that was when moving from say one region to another or just in general.
