Yes
Well, with chrimbo (sp=yeuch) I was wondering........

a) How you're all planning to be celebrating the thievery of the Pagan celebration of midwinter by the romans/christrians and/or birth of the little baby jesus and/or the traditional festival of maxoutthecreditcard (depending on how you look at it)

and

b) whats on your list of presents in order to celebrate the fact that 3 blokes turned up to a shed in a middle eastern ghetto to look at a small child lying naked in some animals food bowl. and had to pay for the priviledge.

Just wondered.

Me, I love christmas now I don't work in retail anymore.

My xmas list will consist of....

raynox wide angle adaptor

some filters (namely IR, Polarizing, nd and nd grad)

a decent tripod

books on Photoshop

lynx deodarant set (i'll inevitably get one anyway, because apparently, I like to smell of secondary school gym changing rooms. So might as well put it on the list)

A soap on a rope (I loved the 80's)

Some Lego (only toy I was allowed when younger as I could'nt take it apart!)

A few bottles of single malt.

world peace.

There you go. that's my offering.

Jingle bells and all that!

My Christmas List:

Sapphire ATi X1800 XL - Ordered
Sapphire Pure ATi Crossfire Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego
Canon BG-E3
Lowepro Mini Trekker AW

So far i've managed to get enough money to afford it all, but that's at the cost of my current PC parts and a Playstation 2 :D

580EX - should be here any day now.

Possibly one of those diffuser things for the flash

2 books to help this engineer gain some clue as to art + photography etc.

1 book on flash and low light.

ND filter

Decent pair of overtrousers so my arse does not get wet whilst cyling (like this morning :( ) - present cheapies leak at seams.

And I have to come up with a few more things people can buy me too :ponders:

A) I'm not doin Christmas this year. My life's kind of fallen to pieces in the last few weeks and I'm just not in the mood.

B) I'd settle for somebody to share it with. :(

soap on a rope is actually quite hard to find nowadays I'm lead to believe ...

My list is fairly short
Fuji e900 (actually money to pay for the one I bought this afternoon batteries charging as I type  )
Lost season 1 (already on its way from a mate in china :woot: )
and 2 girlfriends :naughty: ........................ not both for me (although :icon_cool ) one for me and one for a mate that "wants to curl up in a corner and die" as its no fun being happy when your mate feels like :tonofbric

I'd like to get through it without it costing me an arm and a leg :icon_eek: But for myself.....a bit of quality time on my own to take some photos.

regards

hmmm tough one

A new car would be nice, the old Mundano just ticked over 161k so must be due for the knackers yard any day now

or for camera related tomfoolery, perhaps some L glass in the 70+ range? Whatever you lot all decide to get me really.

I refuse to take part in this religious festival which has been hijacked by the money worshipping high street retailers.
In fact i've already bought my Yuletide present....a Sigma 150 macro.

Furthermore, I will be requesting to work on Christmas day and volunteering my services to the Salvation Army on Christmas night.
I know my wife and family won't mind.

Yeh, right. !
Pull my other cracker.
I'll be spending more money than I can afford, like all the other poor brainwashed sods.

Bah, Humbug.
Cameron the Jock. ( At least I'll get some  )

ahhh dude. I'm sorry to hear that! you can borrow my 17 yr old step daughter for the yuletide period if you so like? I guess it would be dependant on if you find vikki pollard attractive or not though!

Seriously though. Life sucks harder at xmas if you're havin a tough time. I got dumped by one of my old g/f's just before christmas about 5 years ago. Ruined the whole affair.

I can only say that I promise things will get better, no matter how hard it seems!

And we all love ya!

*patronising mode/off*

Well anyone who wishes a bit of company this christmas is always welcome round at my house for a brew :)

Nothing on my list per se.

I'd like :

Nifty Fifty (1.8)
420ex/430ex
New tripod
Loweprowe MiniTrekker
Monopod
Optech Strap

Mainly I'm looking forward to christmas for the sake of my family. My two kids (6yo girl and 16mo boy). I love it for their sakes, watching their eyes light up. Doing little family traditions of turning the lights off in the house on christmas eve and kneeling at the living room window, looking out for fairies and santas elves, watching all the children, making sure they're going to bed.

The tradition my wife and I started last year of going for a big family walk on Boxing Day, getting all wrapped up and spending a couple of hours walking in the park, playing together, some real quality time.

Also, this year, I've invited my two sisters, my mum and step-father, and my sisters kids (all 8 of them) for christmas dinner.

That's 17 people and a cat...and we only have a 2 bedroom flat....that's gonna be....cosy :D

We're also doing a couple of those christmas shoe boxes to send to those less priveleged.
My wife and daughter are doing one for a 6yo girl, and my son and I are doing one for a 2 yo boy. We've been buying toys and what not for a while, and all we have to do now is wrap them and send them off.

I'm also thinking of giving my time this christmas eve to help out the Salvation Army or something. I always feel saddened at the misfortune of other people at christmas, and keep saying I'd like to help, but have never had the chance due to work commitments etc. This year, I've got the chance to do something. I know it's not much, but it's better than doing nothing.

Like I say though, anyone who fancies a bit of company, you're all welcome round at mine :)

christmas eve... one of my favorites night of the year, i toddle down to the 'cadbury' walk through a mass of people aiming towards the back and inevitably find my long lost friends that i dont see for the best part of the year. we have a few jars and laugh at each others obligatary christmas jumpers, then wake up and, oh wait, it's christmas!

thinking of this years list.....

sb-600
50mm f1.8 (i fancy trying one, dunno why)
external HDD
some new cd's to entertain me
a surprise from my girl, she's not getting any clues this year as to what i want, apparently i'm 'impossible' to buy for! surely not, i have at least 10 hobbies! adn it's christmas, i want things i like not things i need, i like surprises :D

...oh and any lonely souls are very welcome at the pub on the 'eve.

Just off the top of my head:-

Tripod - I've been looking at the Manfrotto 190PROB, looks pretty good.
Monopod - I've no idea what to go for here really :ponders:
Tripod/Monopod head - Looking at the Manfrotto MN322 grip action ball head.
Wide angle lens - Tokina 12-24 and Sigma 10-20 are the main two I'm looking at.
Big new bag - I have a decent walk around bag but I want something big that'll carry my current + future kit.
2 gig memory card - only have a single 1 gig card which is quite limiting at the moment.

Not too greedy eh?

Yeah right, can't see me getting too much from that list

Underpants
Socks
Ties
Blue Stratus Aftershave
Bottle of Jack Daniels

I like to maintain the tradition

Well I urgently need a new monitor so that will be here soon but is on the Christmas list. Canon 430ex that should also be here this week I must also count as being off the Christmas list and my wish list only contains one other item that has been there for almost two years...300mm F4 L IS if someone is feeling sorry for me. Everytime I scrape enough money together for it something breaks or something crops up that just saps my savings. I am sure someone is trying to tell me something. :(

Nothing on my chrimbo list, I just want to spend the time with the missus and the cats.

Tis' all. :)

Just been reminded the one who must be obeyed says we got to do some xmas shopping tonight

Hahahahahaha

Although I know that my time will come shortly :(

Not sure on this one - I did want a 24-105 f4 L (until fate struck), maybe some computer parts, or possibly a DVD-Record with a HDD.
I seriously dont know - people keep complaining that Im terrible to buy anything for and I guess its true - I dont even know myself. :confused-

I will buy the Sigma 10-20mm zoom and photograph myself dancing nekkid round the local stone circle at midnight.

I'm not a pagan, I just like dancing nekkid ;)

Just remembered - I'll have some blacked out glasses for reading these forums from 25th Dec onwards :icon_cool

now thats weird did you edit your post warspite?
the email I got said you'd said
Just remembered - I'll have some blacked out glasses for reading these forums from 35th Dec onwards :icon_cool

I came here to point and laugh about Dec 35 now I can't :annoyed:

Of course not - if I had edited it wouldnt it have been noted. Unless I was really quick of course;)

A 3.0l conversion for my Cougar at Autocraft in Salisbury.
A Twin exhaust for my Mondeo V6.
Someone to buy my D1x before I consign it to a museum/skip (£900 - any takers?).
A new girlfriend 20 years my junior with a really filthy mind and a rich dad.

Although I'm still enjoying being single at the moment and being £1200 a month better off...

My daughter will be very close to that in about 14 years.

She's 6 and has a filthy dad with a rich mind :D

Nothing to be honest, got everything I need and anything I want isn't really essential. Anyway, it's at least a month too soon to be thinking of Chrimbo :p

Found some soap on a rope.

Soap on a rope

As for crimbo dont really need anything so not asking for owt.

I just want to see my kids happy on christmas day.

Then I will then send them to their rooms, while I play with their new gadgets. :D

There isn't much on my list really.

Tripod
speedlight
telephoto maybe

but if santa doesn't have room in his sleigh for that, that's fine. We don't go crazy at christmas time buying overpriced gifts we simply can't afford. That's not what it's about, and it's my job to teach my kiddies that. I really don't like to see how greedy kids can be nowadays. It's a sin really. Nobody takes the time anymore to show their children and make them understand what it's really all about. Now i"m not sure what it's like over there but over here it's just disgusting at what the kids "want" for christmas. I presume it will only get worse, not better. I do love christmas though, I'm a big kid myself, and I get to relive it with my own kids now. It's great!!! :)

Jewel.

im on a paediatrics rotation at the min..... :p it can be arranged.... for a price of course ;)

(i dont mean to offend if its a particularly sensitive matter)

There has been a development.

Been introduced to a friend of a friend and we went out together tonight after talking about it on the phone all week, being nervous etc and generally behaving like a couple of daft kids - just got home at 2:15am.

We got along fantastically well. Talked for literally hours and hours - thats on top of the 2-hour telephone conversation we had this morning. I even got a kiss at the end of the night. :woot:

So from feeling about as low as you can go for ages, I'm absolutely buzzing - early days but things are looking very positive. She's lovely and I can't believe fate has dealt me a good hand for once. Even if the relationship doesn't develop further (and I think it will - things were said which I won't go into :whistling ), I've got myself an amazing friend.

All of a sudden, Christmas doesn't feel like such a bad prospect after all.

What's on my Christmas list now? More of this feeling, please. Its not much to ask.

(Sorry for sounding all soppy. Blokes aren't supposed to talk like this. I needed to tell somebody about her though).

:D :D :D :D :D

Pessimistic mode on ||

She is only doing it for the Christmas presents ;)

Seriously mate, I am pleased for you and hope it develops like you are saying. Just goes to show that you never know what is around the corner. There are only a few certainties in life, it will go dark, it will rain and you’re always overdrawn at the bank ;)
