Hi everyone,

I'm new here, so apologies if this is in the wrong place!

I have an Olympus Pen EPL-8 with a Sigma 30mm F1.4 DCDN lens and I'm going abroad in a few weeks to Lanzarote.

I want to take my camera with me, but I'm unsure which insurance to go for. I've had a look around, but it's unclear if the insurance will cover the lens as I bought it separately.

Any advice would be appreciated!

All the best.

If it's not for any professional use, then the cheapest way to insure camera gear can be to add it to the 'all risks' section of home contents insurance.

You need to check the value of cover you have, and also any limit on single item value (as well as if they consider camera + lens to be 1 items, or 2 items) - as well as what excess would apply.
Also check that cover extends abroad.
Note that 'All Risks' can also include accidental damage cover, which can also be handy.

Provided you bought gear new (or second hand from a dealer) and have relevant receipts, then you should be fine.
If you have second hand gear from private sales, eBay, etc, then you need to check with your insurance company what they require as proof of ownership - it varies from company to company.

Thank you so much everyone.

I'll contact my home contents insurance provider and see what they say. If no look, I'll take another look at Photoguard.

I really appreciate it.
