Just came back from a week in Cornwall and managed a great week photographing the landscape and wildlife.

This particular Cormorant was very obliging, and at one point I had to move back as he was to full in frame.

Light wasn't on my side at it was rather mid-late afternoon, but I'd like to share with you a bird I'd never photographed before.

Great shots but it's a juvenile Shag you have there.

is it Gavin?

I did do some looking around and wasn't too sure having not really seen or had much to do with photographing either before.

I didn't think there were many of those in the south and it was more a northern species?

Yeah mate I'm pretty certain it is. I uploaded some pics I got of a juvenile Shag a while back to Flickr. This is one of them

Super set their Dan.
Number 2 & 3 are my favourites.
Regards
Paul.

good set Dan you are doing well at your togging

Thankyou Kaz, that's kind of you to say :)

I had a week in Cornwall so was able to switch off and put some time into togging and not rush shots through or look for shots that aren't always there if you know what I mean.

The coast is so much better for wildlife it's sad to come home lol

my first Shag then lol

Careful, that can sound rather misleading :D

Joking aside, great picture! I missed out on a Shag this year (the bird...) due to the trip to the Farnes getting called off due to the weather. It won't stop me from trying again next year.

Well done mate, lovely shot.

I spent my time in and around the Padstow area Kaz, which itself is a great place to visit, nice fishing town (even if Rick Stein has overtaken it lol)

The wildlife I found is on Constantine Beach and the coastal paths between Trevose Head & Padstow, which is about a 6 mile stretch.

A pair of Kestral's can be found in a dissused quarry, they were there again this year which I managed to get, but not as good as I'd like.

Definately go there, you will love it.

Curlew were on the beach yesterday again but I couldn't get close enough, which is sad as they look a great bird, oh and Oystercatcher too ;)

Let me know if you want anymore info :)
