Didn't expect to see a fly on the garden fence tonight, but there it was.

Not sure why it's head and antennae seems so "textured" - maybe it's the cold and damp that has had some affect...

Practice. Loads of it. With the Venus all manual 60mm 2:1 macro lens, you have to work hard and take a lot of shots to master it. It's a tough lens but yields great results.

Add to that, years of taking photos that give 1 to 3 mm focal range Hines your ability to eventually nail some winners.
