Evening folks,

My friend has just bought himself a 300D body (no lens). He says he has £200-£300 to spend on a lens for it. He wants a general walk-about lens. He doesnt want something like a 18-200, he would rather a short range zoom with higher quality. Something like 24-70.

What lenses would you recommend for that budget? I dont know much about Canon lenses being a Nikon man. He doesnt mind third party lenses either. I have had a look on places like fredmiranda, but would like some other opinions.

Thanks in advance. :)

Hmm well i have a similar quandry. You really want as wide as possible to account for the crop factor, im looking at the Tamron 28 - 75 but as your m8 wants wider he would probably be better off with something like 18 - 40?

Sigma 28-70 F2.8 EX
Sigma 18-50 F2.8 EX bit wider but great reviews
Tamron as EosD says

Also, don't forget about the canon 28-105mm F3.5, hugely under rated :)
