Lightning hit on Statue of Liberty captured

When preparation meets opportunity.

We all dream of a killer shot like that.
 
I like the write up ----- "lightning bolt appears to strike....."

I'm of the same opinion. Impressive though it has to be said.
 
Maybe it's portending some sort of event in respect of American justice!
 
Looks like it's hitting the land on the far shore there, not the statue.

Cool pic anyway.

I like the way the media states "took more than 80 shots before striking lucky"
It makes people think (and probably the media) that he did 80 clicks, more like 80 long exposures, but then people who aren't photographers probably don't know that anyway if you get my meaning.

There is a wee clue in the comments under the photo.......

My initial thought was that the strike doesn't look like it is actually hitting the statue and looks like it is hitting the water behind it, which is strange as I would have thought that lightening would strike the tall statue rather than the water.

Nice pic, just looks a bit suspect to me.

Oh, and 80 pics in two hours!! I spent about half hour trying to capture lightening when I was on the gold coast and probably shot 100 shots and kept two **** ones. To me that is an impressive ratio what he managed.

+1... it's an amazing lighting picture for sure

but the fact that lighting strike was next to the statue of liberty means nothing to me... if it was a tree or a very tall building, it would be much better (for me :D)
 
i think the lightning strike might be hitting the water behind the statue :D
