Hi All,

Need some advice on what to do with LightRoom Classic creating a Picture Folder on my C; drive.

Over the last 6 months I have been editing my Canon R7 32.5mb files ( of course not all files will be this big ) on my Tower PC.

Recently my Topaz, and Photoshop starting displaying warnings about lack of storage. After so investigation I have noticed many folders in my C drive, User Pictures with a date.
Theses are the imported files i.e RAW, DNG etc for LightRoom ( LR ), so not only do I have the actual RAW files on my Tower PC. LR is creating a copy of the same files I am importing in to LR this is causing a massive usage on my C drive.
Please note I do store my original RAW files on a separate Hard Drive, and LR is generating the reference important RAW files on my C Drive.

Firstly is this necessary for LR to do this, and if so what is my solution as I have deleted many folders on the C Drive to free up space. Of course tis means if I go back to look and reedit any images LR message is 'Can Not Locate File' !

Many thanks

T

Check your import settings. You have the option of Add, Copy or Move.

Add just ads the file to the catalog by referencing the image whereever it is (ie your SD card or a folder on your drive)

Copy adds the image to a catalog and copies the image from the source to a destination folder specified.

Move does as above but moves the file.

I suspect you are copying the file, hence creating a duplicate.
