Lightroom subscription confusion ‍

Hi All - I used to have a photography plan with Adobe a few years back, which included Lightroom (classic and online) and PS. It started to get very expensive so I cancelled it.

The subscription models look like they've changed again in the meantime, and as I'm looking to get Lightroom again I wondered what people find to be the most cost-effective of doing this?

I'm not interested in PS or online storage to be honest, but if it works out better value to get that as well then so be it. Is getting a sub directly from Adobe the best way to go, or are there better options?

Thanks!

You have three options,

1. LR Classic, Lightroom and PS with 20Gb cloud storage. £9.98/mo
2. LR Classic, Lightroom and PS with 1Tb cloud storage. £19.97/mo
3. Lightroom and 1TB Storage. £9.98/mo

Lightroom Classic is probably what you are used to. Used offline but can sync to the cloud.
Lightroom is designed to work mainly in the cloud.

If you don't want to store you images in the cloud then option 1 is the one you want.

You can often pickup a full year subscription on Amazon for around £79. Usually on Prime days or Black Fridays. The codes can be added to your account which pauses your month subscription until the year is up.

Thank you so much folks -- yes, option 1 seems the best for me, and Classic is the version I'm used to. Good old Amazon again!

If you don't want online storage, then I would suggest the Classic.

Personally I don't want to have my photos on the cloud. They're my photos taken by me, they belong to me, not to Adobe, which is why I don't want them on the cloud. Same with my documents, all my Word files on my own computer, not on Microsoft's cloud.

That is why I prefer Lightroom Classic, rather than the online Lightroom CC.

Can you imagine the ballache of uploading a 2000 image raw file wedding to the cloud each time. No thanks.

I'd definitely second this. It's not just that uploading to the cloud takes a lot of bandwidth, as mikeyw pointed out, but there's also the headache of severing yourself from Adobe's clutches as an when you decide it's not appropriate any more. I subscribe to the €9.99/month plan for LR Classic & PS. Still resent having to do it by subscription, but until an alternative to LR comes along that offers all the features I find indispensible in that program, I guess I'm stuck with it.

What do you mean by "Less Bloat"?
For me all the stuff (menus and options) like print slideshow plugins etc,.I like the more modern streamlined look that still has the main develop tools .
Obviously not the correct version for many people but perfect for moi.

You do know that you can hide anything you don't use? Just right click on that menu bar and untick the modules you don't want to see.

I do Elliot but it just feels a different experience with a more modern looking desktop.ive got the plan so can always go back to Classic if I want but so far I’m preferring this.
