The real size is 10.34 mm, magnification is 1.4

The real size is 0.32 mm, magnification is 5.46. For some reason it looks worse on the forum than flickr not sure why.

Dave, its because you have massively up sized them when posting.
But even on flickr a lot of them are very grainy...

Thanks for that - I will use a smaller size in future for ones which have been cropped. I wonder if I had taken them with a different camera they could take cropping more. I will have to do some experiments and ask.

None of them look grainy to me on flickr but maybe that is because I only have a standard laptop screen or something.

No you are right it is grainy but I think I know how to stop it - although saying that my flash support has a bit of a mind of its own.
The MPE65 is a bit of Great Irritating Remarkable Lens - I am sure this an acronym there but I can't quite see it.
 
I like #1 the most.
