Yes
Its that time again for another wander around the capitals streets and canal as well this time.
Due to the various time constraints of myself and other potential fellow wanderers the proposed date is Monday 30th March

Early days yet, but i'm thinking of a route that starts around the Islington/Kings Cross area and ends up at Regents Park
Fair part of the stroll will be along the Regents Canal towpath with stops at various points of interest along the way.
Pausing for lunch at a welcoming hostelry, can't promise such a fine selection of ales as we encountered on our last meander

All ages, genders, shapes and sizes very welcome, if that meets with your approval please indicate your interest below
A suitable meeting point will be arranged nearer the time, something around the 10.30 mark seems to work well

Cheers and hopefully see you there
Rich

Thanks for the heads up Dave @Dave70D !(y)
I too will keep an eye on it.

Train prices are a concern....early trains are expensive, and later ones are cheaper, but won't get me there on time!
Then there's the matter of all this 'travelcard/oystercard' stuff that they have now!
It's been well over twenty five years since I was last down in that London....'twas much simpler then for this simple, rural chap!!

Trains are usually a lot cheaper booked in advance, that's what I do on LNER
I travelled to London and back yesterday from Peterborough, train got into Kings Cross at 09.26
Fare was £36 return first class, like a bit of comfort these days, complimentary refreshments are a bonus

No need for a Oyster card, contactless works the barriers, same price as Oyster and capped at about 8 quid a day
Single journey in Zone 1 is £2.40, no tube during the day so just two journeys to pay for
Be nice to see you again if you can make it, hopefully be an interesting stroll with decent photo opportunities

Possibly changing job which will mean every other Monday off. Just waiting to find out if I’m off and if so I’ll be there!

Hopefully see you on the 30th Gordon
Meet up details to be confirmed nearer the time on this thread

Hello, will watch this thread and see if I can make it. How many miles of walking expected, I've been so inactive recently I might have to start training for this!

Hope you can make it, not sure of actual miles, last couple I've been told have been between 15k and 20k steps.

Keeping an eye on this virus thing, i'm still up for it as it stands, but how do others feel about the situation?

It's making me have second thoughts about joining this meet, and made me delay buying a train ticket.

Fair enough, thought that might be the case in some instances, hard to tell how it will go.

I am going to say lets assume its still on unless new regulations come into force
Will get a meeting place sorted after I have been to the Photo Show on the 16th (if its still on)

Been in London all day on and off tube, Tate modern and natural history museum. If you don’t hear from me in two weeks don’t go!

I could do with a walk, I'm in London anyway Fri-Sat but it's cheaper to go home and return Mon than to stay over. Unless advised not to travel I can't imagine it being any worse than walking down my own local high street.

Be nice to meet you Dan if you can make it, depending how far you are coming should be able to get off peak fare.
I'm about seventy miles away, but 9.30 train gets me there in time at a not silly price.

My feelings too, but have to respect others concerns especially those with underlying health issues

Yeah off peak train for me gets in around 10.15 to the northern stations so not too bad from here, £20ish return for cattle class, not sure I'd see the benefit of 1st for 40mins.

Looks like this is off now, another victim of the virus
Hopefully get something sorted for when all this business has cleared up

Take care people and see you all next time

Hope everyone is well and not too badly affected during the current crisis.

If things continue to improve would anyone still be interested in the previously cancelled wander?
I'm thinking possibly September once the kids are hopefully back in captivity
No problem if you are a bit wary, not exactly been socialising myself, but got to start getting back to normality.

I will gauge the reaction and go from there, October is ok for me too apart from the last week which is half term

Cheers
Rich

I’ve got leave booked from 21-25 September so that week would be ideal for me.

Noted Gordon, will see what interest there is and post a provisional date August sort of time
Might be handy if anyone registering interest could say any dates they definitely cannot make

I’ve got to use up leave before the end of September, so long as it’s not August 19th I can probably make it.

I'm still good, might look at driving down and parking instead of taking the train. Got new lockdown toys I'd love to try :)

That's good, what a nice way to try out lockdown goodies
I'm still coming down by train, only got one car and the wife needs that for work.
Thinking about booking on LNER from Peterborough, more room and they are only letting people on who have a pre-booked seat

I could go for a TP London wander, I really enjoyed the last one I did in 2010 :p That was an overnight though.

Be nice to meet you David, keep an eye on this thread for potential date and meet up arrangements.
Just a day trip this time, should be enjoyable though

Due to some very sad news about a chap from another forum who was coming along I think its best this event is postponed for the time being.
Sorry, will get it rearranged when things are a little bit more settled

Cheers
Rich
