Longleat Butterfly House

A great selection of butterflys there. I especially like #2. I think that you've captured the colours well, but a couple look like you've missed the focus ever so slightly on the eye's.

Great photos and not the easiest to get photos of. When I went to a butterfly house the outside air temperature was cold, soon as I went inside the butterfly house the lens kept steaming up and it took ages for the camera and lens to adjust to the new conditions.

So anyone else doing the same be aware this could happen

You just need to give it time, IME in winter around 15 mins, even in summer on a hot day the lens can steam up for a brief period due to the high humidity in the houses. During that time don't wipe the lens, just let the kit settle down.

Cheers Swag

The focus might be my movement as even though it was bright outside the roofing in there was doing a good job of filtering out some of the light. I was trying to watch the shutter speed but even so it was dropping below 1/200 at times and the whole thing was slightly blurred. Or it could be I was too close for the lens to focus as I found myself leaning back at times to get the distance required.

I was lucky with this as it was a warm day anyway but they did provide a hand dryer just inside the entrance and had it marked you for you to defog your lens.

we are going to centerparcs at longleat in the summer hols and are looking forward to going to the safari park.
