Interesting subject why did you chose f2.8? I think f13 + might have been better - you could try flash as well.

I agree look here for ideas on flash remember it does not need to be a ringflash or expensive macro flash

I think you might find that f13+ would be better for insects. F 2.8 is for glamour photos or when you are doing something in very bad light and can't use a flash.

The shots are spoiled by lack of DOF to improve your shots use a smaller aperture.
