No Idea what this is

I found this in my shed,
Its about 2ins (50mm) long.
Google is no help as this appears to be the underside.
Also it begs the question(s) did it die making a cocoon? do "they" rest in hammocks? It doesn't appear to have been snaffled by a spider either.
