Of Antz & aphids (again)

Looks like the Ant has a nice herd there..
We seem to have very little, Ladybirds this year :(
Cheers Gav.
All my ladybirds seem to have left, I've not seen one in ages.
In fact very few insects this year, just these and the occasional hover fly.

Single Aphid, canon M50, 100mm macro lens & Raynox 250.

I agree with both of you apart from a large number of soldier flies (if you see my flickr page there are loads of them). This has been a bad year particularly for solitary bees in the spring two colonies I know produced none.

The good news is that I read in this book

That a percentage of solitary bees wait two years or longer to come so there should still be some waiting to emerge next year - although I will be very very relieved to find these colonies again.
(I photographed at least 8 andrena nigroaenea in 2020 and 2021 - and for some of the prime flight season in 2020 I was ill with Covid and couldn't go outside. This year not a single one.

You don't half need a lot for a meal though :D

Just do what the ants do and lick the aphids' arso is that the time?...
