Hi all, I I'm just in the process of finishing my new pc build.
Mobo. MSI B650 Tomahawk.
PSU MSI MAG A650GL.
OK so my small dilemma is the psu to Mobo connection, from the psu there is a 18 block connector, on the Mobo is 2 separate 8 and 6+2 connection blocks, my problem is the 2 connector block has a different connector style (photo) and I can't plug this one into the Mobo. It's the square lip that is blocking me to insert it.
I guess without this one connected the Mobo won't power up.
Any advice please.

Not all MBs require all the connections a PSU has, would suggest the manual.

Ans some PSU have connections for graphics cards

Thanks.
I read that if the cables are there, use them.

The manual will tell you what is needed and what is optional.

You can't use a cable for a graphics card if your graphics card doesn't need it.

Also, not all PSUs have all the cables that could be used on modern MBs.

I agree, if the MB has a connector for a cable from the PSU, you would normally connect it, but it looks as if the spare cable you have has been intentionally made so that it will not plug in to a similar looking connector on the MB, and forcing it could easily damage the MB beyond repair.

If all else fails.........................

In the manual pages 11,26 & 37 cover it.

Modern (modular?) PSUs have more cables than need and many are marked /branded as to their intended usage.

Some will be combo leads i.e. a 4 + 2 or a 6 + 2 ( the case of independent power for a GPU.

Ooops! Just spotted your title edit
