I have a week off next week and thinking of visiting the Peak District.

I've not been there before so looking for some suggestion on where to stay and places to visit?

Thanks in advance :)

Some suggestions:

Monsal Head

1. Mam Tor and Hope Valley

2. Padley Gorge

3. Alport Castles

4. Lyme Hall and Cage

5. Lathkill Dale and Over Haddon

6. Stanage Edge

7. Leash Fen

8. Chrome and Packhouse Hills

9. The Roaches and Hen Cloud

10. Crowden Valley

11. Upper Dovedale

12. Goyt Valley

13. Curbar Edge

14. Luds Church

15. Rockhall Cottage

16. Fairbrook

17. Howden Dam

18. Peters Stone

19. Kinder Scout

20. Arbor Low Stone Castle

21. Millers Dale

22. Back Tor

23. Higger Torm- short walk

24. Three Shires Head

There is plenty of accommodation, probably best to select your area and search there.

Wow thanks, wasn’t expecting such a list, didn’t realise there was so much there!

I thought there may have been a central location good for all within a short drive.

I’ll go through the list and see what I like and go from there :)

I can also recommend the book Photographing the Peak District by Chris Gilbert and Mick Ryan if you would like some detailed guidance. I think Mick has some connection with this forum.

Hopefully you get some decent weather.

If you are into funghi then the walk along the south sides of Derwent and Howden dams will take you into some very interesting areas for funghi at this time of year. And some nice scenic shots along the way.

Hathersage is a good base (if this isn't too late)
