Edit My Images
No
My brother is a good photographer and I wanted to print a photo book of his work. I want it to be high-end (but hopefully not tooo expensive ;). I don't know much about what is important in terms of colours or details, so I was hoping that you could recommend a company in the UK where I could print such a book. I've been looking at Papier, but any recommendation is appreciated. Thank you!

Hi and welcome to TP:)

As you may imagine this subject does come up a few times and this thread is fairly recent.

I am non too sure how many, even if UK based, print them in the UK?

PS I too have been considering this for a while and my inclination is to try Blurb

Has anyone tried My Fujifilm or DSCL for photobooks?

I have used Blurb in the past, but also want to get some calendars done.

I found Blurb to be a good compromise between value for money and quality. I also found their software easy to use to present images how I wanted them rather than using templates.

They also tend to have really good deals on seasonally (Black Friday, Christmas etc).

I’ve used Blurb before when printing one-off books, both paperback and hardback. The direct integration with Lightroom is very useful. Quality is OK - the paper is fairly lightweight (even the quality option). However, the books are really effective and a great way of seeing your (or your brother’s) pictures in print - they look so much better that way.

If you can find someone who does 170gsm weight silk paper, then you’ll be in business though it won’t be cheap.

Whatever you do, don’t use Amazon’s Print-On-Demand service. The quality is absolutely dreadful - bad undetailed printing, very thin paper (even with the high quality option), just cheap tat.
