Beginner Question about Lightroom Mobile and syncing with LR Classic

As per my other thread, I took the plunge and went with Lightroom Classic desoite my reservations about the subscription model. I will say it is a very nicely turned out bit of software. I have lightroom classic [and photoshop] with 20GB of cloud storage.

I am ONLY using the cloud storage for syncing photos from my phone to the cloud which then automatically syncs them to Lightroom classic on my laptop. Neat. With 20GB I have a while before I will fill up the cloud (my phone camera takes Raw+JPG) but I assume that if I move any of my photos OUT of the automatically syncing cloud folder on my laptop and into another folder, and then delete all the files in the cloud folder, I will free up the cloud space but not lose the photos?

Assuming the above is right, I would then just need to reimport those photos into lightroom from the new folder?

This is clearly a problem that is some way off. But just wondering if my logic is correct?

My general rule with Lightroom is not to move any files outside of Lightroom, if you want to move an image to a different folder, you can do that within Lightroom, however it will then keep the sync status.

If you want to "un-sync" and image you just need to remove it from the "All Synced Photographs" collection. I have just tested this with a phone image which was in my "Lightroom Mobile" folder, which is where all the images taken on my phone and imported on Lightroom Mobile are synced to. The image stayed in the folder, but is no longer synced (and removed from Lightroom Mobile).

Thanks. Very helpful.

So once I approach 20GB, I guess I could simply create a "Lightroom Mobile2" folder, sync that and use that for all new photos.

And then if I unsync all photos in the first "Lightroom mobile" folder (or just unsync the folder) I should free up 20gb
