With the news that BBC Earth announced BBC Springwatch's video of the once rare Ladybird Spider that has now gained a stronghold once more in the UK, it reminded me that back in 2007 I found a red spider which whilst certainly not unknown, was the first time I had ever seen one anywhere, included on the internet! It was an Orb Weaving Spider "Araneus quadratus" - I found her on waste ground near the docks in Preston. Since 2007, my editing skills have improved somewhat and the BBC story prompted me to find the original RAW files and re-edit them, hopefully for the better...

Lovely work Paul
These vary in colour quite a bit.

Last one is a stonker m8 and a beauty of a spider

Yes heard about them on BBC. Great looking spider and shots.

Nice set Paul. 2007 is quite a while ago. Presumably you are using a different camera/lens setup now (and flash? or was it bright sunlight for these?). Different editing software too I imagine.

Thanks lads.

Nick - I think it was my EOS 400D back in the day... Sunlit too, not flash as I recall. Plus back then, it may have been Elements 3.0 ! Graham - everyone seems to like that best too.
