Hey all! Clara here. This is my first post so...hello :) I thought I would begin by posting a set of shots I just had developed. They are shot on Lomography Redscale 50-200 ISO 120mm film. I am -not- happy with the results. Any thoughts? Much appreciated!

MOD EDIT:MASSIVE FILE ALERT - IMAGES BROKEN TO LINKS to save your bandwidth folks...

Don't know why but these took an age to show on my screen. Is the resolution huge?

The first one certainly has some charm. The footprints lead in nicely. There is an odd horizontal line running across it though. Maybe just a scanning issue?

The second has some potential. Would look much better without the lean I think.

Third one does nothing for me I'm afraid.

There is a good photo sharing area on the site and even a dedicated film area that it's worth exploring.

Hallo Clara - Welcome:welcome:!

Same as Graham - the photos took ages to show fully. I love the first one; the 'sun burst' and the shadows/contrast are great. It's the kind of thing that I try to do.

As Graham says, there's the dedicated film sub-forum that you might get a lot out of. I'm a 'Digital Woman' these days but sometimes take an old Mamiya or an Olympus film camera out for a ride;)!

moved to F&C...

AND PLEASE, Keep your file sizes down (I'd recommend 1024px longest side) in future... I'm going to break these to links for now (not everyone is on fast broadband or "unlimited data" packages for mobile viewing) - feel free to edit the original post to replace the links with smaller sized images.

Thanks everyone! My apologies for the image sizing; I will be sure to adjust it in the future.

The scans look like they need a heck of a lot more contrast. It's possibly your scanning technique at fault. How did you scan them?

Here they are with the contrast whacked right up.

Also, I think I'm correct in saying that Holgas work best with 400 speed film and with plenty of light. These look like you were working in tricky low light conditions which may not have been ideal.

I like the first one a lot. I know that snow is white, so producing an image like that subverts my expectations and makes me think about the image more than a conventional one would have.

The second looks a lot better after some PP - reduced exposure, increased contrast - but doesn't work as well as the first. The third does nothing for me, either.
