Because of other priorities I have not been doing much photography for a while and I have not visited the church grounds opposite our house for several months. Prior to that it provided me with a lot of subjects to practice on and test out new kit and techniques. I went back this afternoon and although now is not a great time of year for finding subjects it did provide enough to keep me occupied for an hour or so.
These images were captured with a Canon EF mount Laowa 100mm 2X macro lens and a pair of 2X Kenko teleconverters attached to a Sony A7rii with a Sigma MC-11 EF to Sony E mount adapter, and a Yongnuo YN24EX twin flash with flash heads reversed and firing into a 12 inch (30cm) diameter bowl lined with printer paper over aluminium foil, and a single diffusion layer of artificial silk.
I messed up the sequencing of the processing and as a result I ended up using the following applications in this order: raw into DXO PhotoLab, TIFF into Adobe Lightroom, TIFF into Topaz DeNoise AI and 1300 pixel high JPEGs out from DeNoise AI, then Lightroom again, editing the 1300 pixel high JPEGs, including a trip out to Photoshop and back for the first of these. This second Lightroom editing included cropping and this produced JPEGs that were less than 1300 pixels high, so I used Gigapixel AI to upsize them all back up to 1300 pixels high. What a mess! But I didn't want to spend the time that would have been needed to retrace my steps and do the job properly, so these will have to do. The 1300 pixel high version are in this album at Flickr along with some more images from the session.
