Yes
I just bought one. Will I be wildly happy or totally disapointed?

I can remember fancying one in the 70's but they were never really very popular. Rollei was far more known for it's twin lens reflexes at the time.
Happy or disappointed? Well I'd guess it's still capable of decent results and the Zeiss lenses were never bad. I hope it's more on the happy side for you!

cheers

Have a lens with it - waiting on it arriving (claimed to be 35mm/2.8). I can get adapters for tamron AD2 or M42 so I have other lenses that will be useable for £10.

I hope that 50mm will be cheaply available because of being the 'standard' lens.
I saw a 135/2.8 go for £18 the other day as well, so I hope that the specific galss is reasonably cheap.

Its a good quality camera, so provided its sound mechanically, there are only two variables left, glass and you :)

Oh bugger.....

Also just bought a 135 for it. I dont suppose anyone knows the difference between the 2.8 MC and the 4HFT (apart from the aperture obviously)? I think the HFT is a later coating? Is the 4 a macro?

The f/4 HFT isn't a macro, just a cheaper lens (Tessar) compared to the Sonnar f/2.8.
It still excellent and you may find a bargain in the used market.

Damn that internet thingy. I did a quick read of a few sites and came away with the impression that the HFT was a more advanced lens.

£38 for one of each, not too exhorbitant I hope.

Believe me £38 for a lens isn't bad! I've paid more than that for filters let alone lenses.

Well.....

A Yorkshireman living in Lancashire. No... I didn't move, they moved the border!.

The shock and stress of that has obviously had a serious impact.

I'm specialising in cheap manual lenses. The only other lens I've bought in that price range was a tamron 135 which I had confused with a 90.

I work on the basis that the kit isnt going to hold me back - my 'talent' will do that on its own. My last 3 lens purchases were 99p, 99p and £4.99 (with free Zenit and leather case)

Can't argue with that one :)

As for the Yorkshireman living in Lancashire and them moving the border... I've never been quite sure if Yorkshire would do anything to get rid of me or Lancashire really wanted me?

cheers

For the record, my SL35me arrived, and its curates egg-ish.

The battery cover is broken - (listing suggested bad connection ) and it seems to have shutter problems as well.

So, not great.

You have paid £38 to much !!

They were crap. I sold them in the 70's when I worked for Lomax in Manchester, the list of faults was endless.

Enjoy it well it works.......;)
